New York is plugged into DioGuardi

New-York-is-plugged-in...

Social networks emphasize the strength of DioGuardi’s grassroots support
NEW YORK – Conservative Party nominee and GOP candidate for the U.S. Senate Joe DioGuardi’s online following emphasizes the strength of his grassroots support.  The frontrunner heading into the GOP primary on September 14, DioGuardi has more Facebook fans than both of his opponents, Malpass and Blakeman, combined.

“The people of New York are the cornerstone of this campaign,” said DioGuardi.  ”New Yorkers
recognize that I understand the anxious conversations families are having around the kitchen table. But more importantly, they rightly believe that I know how to remedy their problems. When the party bosses tried to keep me out of this race, the people put me back in, because the people have confidence in my professional background, believe that I can beat Sen. Gillibrand, and have faith that I will fix the bottom line and revitalize the American dream for generations to come.”

DioGuardi’s support on Facebook, YouTube and Flickr dwarfs his opponents’ efforts to gather online support.  On Facebook, DioGuardi has 7,681 Facebook fans – more than twice as many as Malpass’s 1,723 and Blakeman’s 1,513 combined. Additionally, DioGuardi’s Flickr page has been viewed 18,081 times, compared to Malpass.  Blakeman does not have a Flickr page.  On YouTube, DioGuardi shows a lead with 12,209 view uploads, far surpassing Malpass’s 9,732 and Blakeman’s 476.
(Note:  Blakeman has no official YouTube channel, but has uploaded two YouTube videos to his website that are accessible to the general public.  The upload views of these two videos were used for the YouTube calculation above.)

DioGuardi's electability trumps that of opponents, says Conservative Party Chair

DioGuardis-electabilit...

DioGuardi holds press conference at NYC City Hall
NEW YORK – Joe DioGuardi, Conservative Party nominee and GOP candidate for the U.S. Senate, today held a press conference with Conservative Party Chair Mike Long regarding the candidate’s electability and agenda for Washington.  DioGuardi is the frontrunner heading into the Republican Party primary on September 14.
“Joe’s electability easily trumps that of his opponents,” said Long.  ”As the Conservative Party candidate for the U.S. Senate, Joe is the only one in this race who can unite New York’s most powerful opposition lines and claim victory against Sen. Gillibrand in November.  As the founder of Truth In Government, Joe has gained recognition as a fighter for fiscal responsibility and an advocate for congressional accountability.  And as an experienced Certified Public Accountant, his background gives him the knowledge-base with which to fight Washington’s dishonest budgeting practices.”
During the press event, Long stressed the candidate’s electability as the only person in this race who can unite the opposition lines and beat Sen. Gillibrand this November.  Furthermore, DioGuardi highlighted his agenda for New York.
“I would like to thank Mike Long for his confidence in my mission and our campaign,” said DioGuardi. “Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand has raised the debt limit twice since being appointed to the U.S. Senate and she voted for the wasteful $787 billion ‘stimulus’ package that has failed to create the jobs New York needs. The Empire State cannot afford her fiscal recklessness any longer.”

Recover summer ends with little return on investment

Recover-summer-ends-wi...

New York – Joe DioGuardi, Conservative Party nominee and GOP candidate for the U.S. Senate, today released the following statement in remembrance of Labor Day:
“Today marks the commemoration of the importance of our American workforce, whose labors have created the greatest economy in the history of the world.  Unfortunately, it also marks the end of Obama’s failed ‘recovery summer.’  Nearly two years after the $787 billion so-called ‘stimulus’ package that Sen. Gillibrand supported, unemployment is still on the rise, leaving many New Yorkers out of work.
“During her brief appointment to the U.S. Senate, Sen. Gillibrand has demonstrated her incompetence and lack of creativity when it comes to restoring the millions of jobs that our economy has lost.  By raising taxes on families and businesses alike, she has failed to realize that it is not the work of government that lifts a country out of economic crisis, but instead the work of the people.
“Bottom line:  we need an economic stimulus that works.  As a Certified Public Accountant, I know what it takes to stimulate the economy.  It requires freedom in the marketplace, lower taxes, and limited, but smart, government regulation.  It requires private-sector growth, not public-sector expansion.  That is what I will promote as your U.S. Senator.”

More on "Ground Zero" Mosque - CBS/New York Times Poll, Goldman Sachs building, that guy with the flag draped on his car, Cherries!

More-on-Ground-Zero-Mo...

Some of What Currently Surrounds Ground Zero
More on Park51, the mosque and Islamic Center proposed to be built two blocks from Ground Zero:  a CBS/New York Times poll says that a substantial majority of New Yorkers feel that the statement: “it should not be built because, while Muslims have the right to do it, they should find a less controversial location” comes closer to their views than the statement ”it should be built because moving it would compromise American values.”
The poll also finds that many New Yorkers (of the whopping 892 randomly asked) oppose (rather than favor) the construction of the mosque near Ground Zero.
Boy, do I hate polls.  They carry the aura of science–black and white data–when in fact they are often reductive, self-fulfilling, and manipulable.
I’m not saying that the findings of the poll are inaccurate–I’m quite sure that many New Yorkers would just as soon (i) that the controversy would go away, and (ii) that if Muslims have to build a mosque, they budge it over a bit.
But one problem with the poll – despite the self-fullfilling terminology- is the fact that the questions had no control, no placebo, as it were–no context.  (No one was asked, for example, if they were actually familiar with the topography of Ground Zero.)
Here are some other questions that were not asked:
Which of the statements below reflects your opinion about construction at Ground Zero?
1.  Yes, Burger King has a right to have a franchise at the corner of the site, but they should move large outdoor pictures of Twilight’s vampires, such as Robert Pattinson, to a less morbid location.
2.  Yes, shoppers have a right to get great discounts on designer goods at Ground Zero,  but the huge “SALE” banners should be draped more decorously.
3.  Yes, N.Y. Dolls can have a strip club two blocks away, but they should drape some banners (maybe from Century 21–oops, maybe not) over the outlines of naked women.
4.  Yes, that guy with the big U.S. flag with all the stenciled names of victims can hang out, but he should not scam tourists on Sundays.  Ditto the people with all the burning WTC postcards.
5.  I don’t love Jeff Koons, but who can argue with cherries?
6.  Okay, Silverstein has a right to some bucks, but should he really construct an office tower on a de facto burial ground?
7.  Yes, Goldman Sachs can (even perhaps should)  build its $2.1. billion headquarters just across West Street, but perhaps, after getting over $115 million in NYS and local tax breaks PLUS the use of $1.65 billiion in tax-exempt Liberty Bonds, it should not have been so active in the collapse of the U.S. financial system.
8.  Yes, the 9/11 attackers were Muslims, but they do not represent all Islam.

DioGuardi urges Gillibrand to stop spending as unemployment rises to 9.6%

DioGuardi-urges-Gillib...

NEW YORK - Joe DioGuardi, Conservative Party nominee and GOP candidate for the U.S. Senate, today urged Sen. Gillibrand and her liberal allies in Washington to stop spending with today’s announcement from the U.S. Department of Labor that the unemployment rate rose to 9.6 percent in August.
“Sen. Gillibrand has raised taxes, discouraged job creation and forced dependency on government,” said DioGuardi.  ”In her personal agenda to expand the government’s role, Gillibrand supported policies that pushed the unemployment rate to 9.6 percent.  Until spending is cut and our budget restored, the American dream will stand in jeopardy and jobless rates will inch higher and higher.”
While 67,000 private-sector jobs were added in August, losses exceeded gains.  The U.S. Department of Labor posted an overall loss of 54,000 jobs.  Economists expected the manufacturing industry to be the vehicle for recovery, but this sector actually lost 27,000 jobs last month, likely due to increased federal regulations, the expectation of higher taxes, and only temporary boosts of demand, often artificially and unsustainably created by the government at the expense of taxpayers.
“Now is the time to put a CPA on Capitol Hill; frankly, we can afford nothing less,” DioGuardi continued. “The bottom line is that we need jobs in New York.  Sen. Gillibrand used her appointment to the U.S. Senate to spend money we don’t have, but when the people elect me as their Senator, I will repair the damage that she and other Democrats have done.  Send me to Washington and I will put New York back to work.”

Gillibrand claims transparency, but hides true U.S. Debt from taxpayers

Gillibrand-claims-tran...

NEW YORK – Joe DioGuardi, Conservative Party nominee and GOP candidate for the U.S. Senate, today responded to Sen. Gillibrand’s claim that she is a champion of federal transparency:
“Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand is offering New Yorkers the facade of transparency.  While claiming to be transparency’s champion, she stands behind a federal budget that uses Enron-like gimmicks and sly accounting tricks to mislead American taxpayers.
“Sen. Gillibrand and her colleagues in Washington have hidden a $60 trillion debt from the public’s view.  How can she tell New Yorkers she stands for transparency when she conceals the bottom line from her constituents?  How can she say she wants truth in government, yet deceives taxpayers as to how much the national debt truly is?”
For over two decades, DioGuardi has worked with Truth In Government, a non-profit organization he founded that aims for greater federal accountability and transparency.  The organization works to inform citizens about the necessity of proper accounting in public sector budgeting and financial reporting and about the devastating consequences of covering up what the federal government is really spending today and committing to spend in the future. DioGuardi is also the author of “Unaccountable Congress:  It Doesn’t Add Up.”

DioGuardi tours Datesweiser in Buffalo

DioGuardi-tours-Datesw...

BUFFALO, N.Y. - Joe DioGuardi, Conservative Party nominee and GOP candidate for the U.S. Senate, today toured Datesweiser Furniture in Buffalo, N.Y.  During his visit, DioGuardi addressed job creation initiatives, the national debt, and U.S.-China relations.

“While we disagree with the way some foreign countries, like China, treat their children, their workforce and their citizens, America is tied to their way of life through debt,” said DioGuardi.  ”Our businesses are struggling, and Washington’s only remedy has been to frivolously spend taxpayer dollars.  As a result, America has fallen deep into debt.  And while we may not agree with the way our lenders treat their workforce, our children will be funding their way of life through interest payments on their loans to us.”

Established nearly 30 years ago, Datesweiser was started in a simple three-car garage.  Today, the company employs about 75 individuals at its Buffalo, N.Y., manufacturing facility and is widely recognized for their innovative, environmentally friendly products, fresh design solutions and project support systems.

Outlining jobs agenda at Hipotronics

Outlining-jobs-agenda-...

NEW YORK – Joe DioGuardi, Conservative Party nominee and GOP candidate for the U.S. Senate, today outlined his jobs agenda while touring the Hipotronics manufacturing facility in Brewster, N.Y.
“Job growth is lagging because the government has absorbed private investment capital through increased taxes and a skyrocketing national debt,” said DioGuardi.  ”We need to allow entrepreneurs, small business owners and large companies to invest in new product lines and a new workforce.  Senator Gillibrand has voted twice to raise the debt ceiling and she voted for Obama’s $787 billion ‘stimulus’ bill.  Her actions in Washington have only placed heavier financial burdens on job creators and American taxpayers.  She has not put New York back to work, but as one of the Empire State’s two U.S. Senators, I will.”
The frontrunner going into the GOP primary on September 14, DioGuardi has been traveling across the state of New York, touring dozens of businesses and visiting with hundreds of Empire State voters.  Hipotronics is the world’s leading full-line manufacturer of high voltage test equipment and measurement instrumentation.  The company employs approximately 110 individuals.

“DioGuardi stood out for me.  I thought he did a great job of distinguishing himself from his two opponents for the general election…. I think he could win a middle swathe of the voting population in New York State in the general election that the other two, I don’t think, could.”

Public policy forces hardships on Brooklyn’s century-old pasta die maker
NEW YORK - Joe DioGuardi, Conservative Party nominee and GOP candidate for the U.S. Senate, today toured Maldari & Sons – a Brooklyn-based pasta die manufacturer. However, with increasing tax burdens and regulations from state and federal agencies, this Brooklyn icon may need to leave the state to survive.
“Maldari has become a Brooklyn icon, but like many businesses in New York, must decide whether they can afford to keep their businesses – and the jobs they provide – in New York,” said DioGuardi. “After the passage of so-called healthcare reform, a massive financial overhaul bill, and the largely ineffective stimulus package – all of which were supported by Sen. Gillibrand – businesses like Maldari are more strained than ever before. We have no choice but to make it easier for job creators to survive in New York and in America.”
Since its founding in 1903, Maldari has expanded from simply making bronze pasta dies to manufacturing pasta, snack, animal food and custom teflonized dies. Today, the company is the largest macaroni die manufacturing firm in the western hemisphere. Maldari has been featured on the Fox Business Channel, the Cooking Channel, and the History Channel, as well as in the New York Daily News and the Staten Island Advance.
“Jobs aren’t created by the government,” said Chris Maldari, Vice President of Maldari & Sons. “Jobs are created by private businesses. That notion may be lost in Washington today. But, with Joe DioGuardi in the U.S. Senate, Capitol Hill will quickly learn that the government needs to give job creators room to grow. I truly believe Joe understands the public sector’s real purpose: to create an environment where businesses can grow, thereby increasing the demand for a more robust workforce.”

Joe once worked with Charlie Rangel in Congress and knows him well. Appearing on “Capital Tonight” with host Liz Benjamin, DioGuardi says that Rangel should gracefully bow out and reiterates his own former call for an independent ethics oversight committee.
